But it isn't very long, so:
Fenrich was once a lone werewolf mercenary working for money. He trusted no one and when he was given orders to kill the Tyrant Valvatorez for 100,000,000 HL (currency) it was one of his biggest payments and he couldn't turn it down. Fenrich decided to get to know Valvatorez instead of fighting him outright because of the tyrant's reputation as a powerful demon, getting closer to the vampire so he would be able to kill him. Eventually, over time, they became friends and Fenrich realized how good a person the vampire was instead of being some big shot demon out to murder everyone. Because of this, Fenrich decided to go back to his employer and kill him instead so that he would be free to befriend Valvatorez for real. His employer, however, had predicted the turn of events and had gotten a silver bullet to shoot him with if he tried to betray him. At the last minute, Valvatorez appeared and took the bullet that would have killed the werewolf instead of letting it hit Fenrich, and the werewolf was able to kill his employer. This finally led Fenrich to trust someone for the first time in his whole life, the Tyrant Valvatorez, and dedicate his life to him. He made a promise on the full moon to protect and serve his new master "until the moon no longer shines."Personality:
Fast forward about 400+ years, and Fenrich is still serving the vampire loyally even though Valvatorez had lost his powers and been reduced to a lowly Prinny Instructor rather than a fearsome tyrant. When the Prinnies are kidnapped by the Corrupternment and Warden Axel Fenrich loyally stays at Valvatorez's side to bring them back so he can keep his promises. No matter what happens throughout the course of the game, Fenrich is loyal to his master. At one point, after taking a shot of power from the Ten Overlords for his lord, Fenrich dramatically fakes his own dying speech to try and get Valvatorez to drink his blood so he'll have the power to defeat the President of the Netherworld. Of course, Valvatorez refuses and Fenrich gets up like nothing happened, with no harm to his health what so ever. He helps Valvatorez to defeat the president and the party uncovers that there's something much more sinister going on in the human world, so they continue on. Eventually, they find out that the humans are conspiring with aliens to destroy the moon. Because werewolves all get their power from the moon and treat it as a sacred place, Fenrich becomes enraged that they're threatening to do such a thing. On the moon, he's much more fired up and angry and ready to fight than ever before, even praying to "god" (forbidden to demons,) to help save the moon in the end. Of course, he was actually fueling his "prayer" with his loyalty and belief in Lord Valvatorez's strength but... it's the thought that counts, right?
Fenrich continues on with the party, helps to defeat the Malice by formulating a plan to make Judge Nemo remember his time with Artina, and saves the worlds.
Fenrich is a very mean person naturally. He doesn't trust anyone, and that keeps him from making friends or being kind to someone who may or may not deserve it. He goes on about how he's going to kill the children on their team, or how he's going to murder Artina for Valvatorez if she does anything even a little suspicious. He's the one that swears most often in the game, calling people bitches and to shut the hell up! again and again. He's very antisocial and it's hard for him to get along with anyone but his master. He has a short temper that he can barely hold back even when some of it is directed toward Valvatorez, but he's the master of the fake smile. A true steward, Fenrich has the ability to "grin and bear it" in most cases, only losing his cool when something important like the Moon is in danger or something is threatening his master's life. Because of that, Fenrich can be extremely manipulative. Mostly with Valvatorez himself, Fenrich has the ability to wave his words in a way that make people charmed into his plans and advice, even if they're just a stupid as anybody else's. He's able to talk his master into just about anything, though the only thing Fenrich really wants Valvatorez to do is continue drinking blood and regain his former power. Most of the things Fenrich does are harmless despite all of that, and even the kids in the party come to realize that, just picking on him eventually to make him angrier and angrier.5-10 Key Character Traits:
A lot of Fenrich's personality comes from his relationship with his lord the (former) Tyrant Valvatorez. When they met, Fenrich was untrustworthy and angry, ready to die when it came to the money on his head. Fenrich was looking for conviction and someone to put his trust into, someone to follow. While he fits the "lone wolf" archetype in a lot of ways, this was definitely one of the things he was searching for. His inner conflict when meeting Valvatorez is telling of this too, when he's unsure how to feel about someone for the first time in his life. Fenrich often portrays himself as this mean antisocial person but when it comes to Valvatorez it seems like he kind of fills the loneliness in Fenrich's life. It almost seems like he uses Valvatorez an object, something that pacifies him. He would never have followed him when Valvatorez showed him kindness (even if Fenrich claims it was out of curiosity) instead of killing him, that kind of personality would have annoyed him. It's obvious from the beginning that Valvatorez is the leader the werewolf had been desperately searching for whether he wants to admit it or not. At the end of the flashback chapter, Fenrich vows all of his loyalty to Valvatorez and wouldn't have done so if he hadn't put his faith into Valvatorez, proving that he isn't truly a loner at all. He wants to be beside someone, forever, be it his inherent canine instincts to be loyal to a pack or just wanting to feel like he belongs somewhere after a lifetime of loneliness.
That isn't to say that Fenrich isn't a horrible person, though. He's a complete ass to most everyone who isn't Valvatorez, and especially hates children. Considering there are three children in their party, Fenrich tends to be angry all the time. He constantly undermines them and breaks down their confidences too, as was the case when Emizel was conflicted about facing his father after being announced dead in the Netherworld's newspaper. Fenrich basically tells Emizel, who is a child by demon standards, that his father probably just wanted to get rid of him anyway. He acts similarly around Desco and Fuka when it comes to their choices and conflicts through the game, but the two of them eventually learn to not be afraid of the werewolf and call him "Fen Fen" much to his dismay and embarrassment. Artina reacts to him similarly, almost treating him as a humorous rival for Valvatorez's "affection" when all he wants is for her to go die already. She grates on his nerves with her mere presence as an angel and being the one who made Valvatorez stop drinking blood in the first place, but it doesn't help that she teases him and prods and pokes at him, even being the one to prompt Fuka to call him a tsundere for getting embarrassed over saying something nice to Emizel. His relationship with the cast outside of Valvatorez really shows off how nasty he can be, but it also shows how harmless he is too. He only threatens to kill them, and he doesn't keep from it for Valvatorez's sake either. He just... doesn't do it.
However, Fenrich is fiercely loyal to those he does put his trust in. The only person who has ever gotten Fenrich to his trust in him is Valvatorez, and Fenrich has followed him since they met even if he originally planned to kill him. Because he trusts in Valvatorez, this becomes both a strength and a weakness for Fenrich. He puts his master on a pedestal and while it's good of him as a servant sometimes it comes back to bite the werewolf. He believes in Valvatorez, respecting his noble pride in what he does and how he cares for others despite being a demon and that... generally not being the case. Seeing Valvatorez beat many demons who oppose him showed Fenrich his strength (he defeated all the demon lords they went up against,) but when Valvatorez took the bullets meant to kill him Fenrich knew that he was the master he had been searching for. His promise to serve Valvatorez until the end shows how serious the werewolf himself is about promises himself. At least when they come to his lord, because the vampire tends to have many crazy ideas that the werewolf just can't find it in himself to agree on. He goes along with the schemes anyway, no matter what. He was once known as the great Moonlight Fang but for Valvatorez he becomes the lowly steward of a weak Prinny instructor in obligation to his master.
In a lot of ways Valvatorez seems to be the one who's childish, but with all of Fenrich's petty faults he really comes off as the less mature one. He's jealous to a fault when it comes to his master, especially when Artina is involved. When Fenrich met Valvatorez he was in his former glory as a Tyrant and Artina was the one to ruin all of that. He got to see a lot of Valvatorez's strength leave, watch him literally shrink, all because of one human girl. While Fenrich has his own promises made with Valvatorez, it's obvious he's jealous of the conviction Artina has instilled into his master. He even fakes his own death to try and get Valvatorez to break that conviction, much like a child yearning for their parent's affections. It's unhealthy to a fault, but that's how he feels about Valvatorez and with how stubborn the werewolf can be it's obvious he doesn't plan on changing anytime soon. Again, he treats Valvatorez as an object, almost, to keep him from his old reckless behavior so there were probably other times he's tried to manipulate Vavatorez into drinking his blood to regain his strength and push Valvatorez into his former glory.
